Back home :-(

Post holiday depression set in soon after i arrived back in Melbourne. It has stayed with me for a long long time. Yes this is going to be one of those posts where people complain about not being back on holiday and not appreciating what they have. Sure i can go on and on about all the friends i am seeing after 5 months of holidays, but that’s no comfort. I miss Europe and the people there really miss Prague and the great time I had there.

With that said i have been doing NOTHING since back at home. sleeping 6 hours a day, playing playstation 3, and going out taking photos. The inspiration for photos has stopped and the dream of moving to Europe take over my thoughts. With lack of things going on in my life I have left things slip. my blog, flickr, and tumblr. All these things have slipped on the wayside.

But things are changing Big things are happening.

Here’s a few photos that I have done with the help of friends. Photos are the only thing keeping me sane at the moment.

The Anonymous Motel.

This anonymous Motel isn’t that anonymous anymore. That’s WLGS named it when we  heard about this amazing yet tacky motel outside of Melbourne. I was heading down that way to visit a friend for the day. I had a look on Google to see if there’s anything abandoned that I could go out and take photos of whilst I’m over that way. This was one of the sites that we found.

The stained glass windows were perfect! they weren’t broken that much and no graff on them. SWEET!!!!!

It really was an ugly place but it did have great charm to it from being so tacky that it was fun to photograph.

About 2-3 months after we posted these with no identifying marks to the building, the name of it or where it is one person went to it and posted an outside photo of it and called the album on flickr y the name of the motel. it soon became trashed and the windows were spray painted over. It wasn’t too long before this place was trashed and wrecked. People are dumb.

UNICEF

WLGS had this site on our target for a long time. we got lazy and there was always next week to do it. this happened too often when we tried to organise a meet up to explore this building. A couple of us decided to go and explore ‘unicef’ before it got trashed by vandals and the graffers. This was one of the riskier sites that we had been to. It was situated on a live site. A live site for those that don’t know is a site that is still worked on or occupied by people or workers.

There were people working in the factory and driving forklifts just 20 meters away from the building. In order to get to the building we had to jump a fence that was on a main street. As we jumped the fence and avoided the people working on the site we made our way into the building.

It was just what we had imagined and more.

The beauty of the peeling paint and the natural decay is a really awesome site to see.

I hope to visit this place when i get back but i doubt that it’s going to be the same. There have been signs of vandalism there as people don’t know how to keep a location a secret.

Heather

This place is one of the best buildings that WLGS have been to in my opinion . It’s a massive place with a couple of levels to it. The hard thing to come to terms is that it hasn’t been trashed or vandalised. heather is pretty hard to get into if you don’t know where to enter. So i guessing the difficulty of getting in and the location which is north (very north) are the reasons that the walls aren’t graffed over and everything smashed on the inside.

As you enter this beast of a building one of the first things you see is this. At that point you know it’s going to be a great explore!

On one of the lower levels you see this mechanical instrument that Looks like something out of a Sci-fi movie.

up on the higher level of this structure we saw this beast of a machine that was a production line of the factory.

Holiday.

This blog is mainly going to be about my holiday in the EU. It will consist of photos of abandoned buildings and photos of general sight-seeing from most of the continent. Urban exploration in australia is fun but when I see photos uploaded of places in the UK and the EU I am amazed by the sheer beauty of them. Some places are so big and have been left abandoned for years, even decades with little to no vandalism. This is unheard of in Melbourne.

The holiday will start off with a bang when Nameless (for now)  my mate ‘mask’ and I in Ukraine for 10 days with a 3 day 2 night visit to Pripyat. As much of a disaster that was the nuclear meltdown that happened in Chernobyl and the lives it took and changed, it’s still a destination that we are looking forward too.

After our 10 days are up we all go our separate ways. There will be lots of stories and photos from us.

Keep up to date with our adventures  of urban exploring by following my blog and or group one here.

here is a pretty photo for reading this far.

Urbex video

Over the past i had been taking a bit of video while out exploring abandoned buildings with frist. Once I had gotten enough video to make a short clip out of was the task of actually putting it together. That was a long process as I am lazy. On a rainy day off from work the time had come to put everything together. this is the result. VIDEO.

The basement.

first attempt at this place was a failure with the WLGS’s. This place was the cream of the crop when it came to UE in melbourne. Melbournians tend to trash the site and with-in a matter of months once the word is out a place is ruind and graffed over. back to the failure of out first attempt.  We had out hearts set on entering this place and seeingwhat is inside. No one had been in there before and it looked prime for the taking. WLGS never got organised to explore this site and then we started seeing photos of it on flickr. It had been found out and now everyone knew about it. It would be a mtter of time before the vandals got they mits on this pristine place and ruin it we thought. trying to get everyone together at the same time is always hard so i decided to go to this place with a mate and report back to the rest of the WLGS crew.

My mate and I were out at a site that will remain nameless. spent a few great hours there taking photos and exploring this HUGE site. We were like kids in a candy store.

after a couple of hours my mate points to some stairs that head to a basement. we decide to investigate them. to our surprise it lead to a musty room with water dripping from the ceiling. the mud on the floor made it very difficult to walk. All this didnt matter to us as we had stmbled onto something big. something that no one would have seen in over 20 years.

A room full of files and records from the company. As I was trying to remember the photos from the other people on flickr from this place no one had posted photos of the basement. Were we the only ones to have ventured down to the basement?
