Abandoned and not haunted.

I am doing this mock blog as I am tired of all the news articles that start off with “30 haunted abandoned buildings” 33 of the most wonderful abandoned buildings in the world” and “14 romantic abandoned buildings in the world.

There are just too many of them on the Internet. so here is my selection of places that are just abandoned. There is nothing special about them, they are not haunted and they are not romantic. They are just abandoned buildings that people take photos of. sure the photos are great but it doens’t make them haunted or romantic.

Бузлуджа.

This place has been one abandonment that i have always been interested in. the soviet feel of it and the mosaics on the wall have always appealed me to it. While traveing around europe the past few months i knew that i will see it at some point.
A plane to bulgaria and meeting some friends from Australia in sofia and a car is all we needed. we set off on a road trip to buzludja. we got there on the wednesday. had a look around this fantastic structure. couldn’t find a way in. spent 30 mins looking and wondering how to get in without breaking anything.

by chance a mate saw a way in. we needed some rope so we went to the local hardware store. (30 mins away) on our return it was too late in the dayto go in.

The morning had come along and off to explore this building. once at the top we met some locals who were looking at the sourrounding mountains. we chatted to the husband and wife. turned out he had gome to this building when it was opperational.

we asked him questions about it and bulgaria. he didn’t have a good experience of the place. he doesn’t like it. didn’t want to ask too many details. He also mentioned that it’s going to get renovated/restored soon but doesn’t know when when.

after a good 30 – 45 mins of chatting they left. Time to head in…..

this is what we found.

Police

We went into the old olympic village here in berlin. Sure you can do a tour but that’s no fun. We wanted to go and explore it on our own and not pay the 12 euros to get in. We we walked around the fence to find a way in. The fence was down in one section and we were in. success.

Walked around for about 45 mins then we got busted by security and the guy who in charge of keeping it maintained. The head guy yelling at us and carrying on about how we aren’t allowed to be in there. Blah blah blah is all i heard till he mentioned he is going to call the cops. We told him that it wasn’t needed and we will leave.

NOPE. He called the cops and we waited for about 20 mins till they came. Mind you that it started to piss dwon with rain and he didn’t let us have shealter under the trees. The cops came and were awesome. They didn’t want to be there dealing with us and tried to hurry it up and let us go without an arrest.

The head guy didn’t want to let us go. He told the police to look at out photos on the camera. There were photos from inside one of the buildings and some from a window we had taken.Head guy kept tellnig the police that we were in that building and the cops kept telling him that we weren’t you could clearly see it from the photos. Then the head guy and the police walked away and talked for about 10-15 mins. one of the cops came back and said that he was trying to sort it out with the guy so we can leave. head guy was really pissed. He must have had a sleep

head guy decided to prosecute and we were taken to the police station in the back of the car. AWESOME!!!!!!!

At the police station the cops and us were talknig and making chit chat. They said sorry that they had to process us but they had to because they were called out.

it started raining again and lighting was beeing seen form inside of the police station. everready said something in german and asked one of the cops if it’s the right word for lightning. The cops said yes. I looked at everready and said “this isn’t the best time to practice your german” i laughted and so did everyone else including the cops.

so after two hours at the police station it was time to pay the fine. we didn’t have enough money on us. one of the cops was going to drive us to the ATM. as I was leaving i said to KoD ” don’t go anywhere, we’ll be right back” everyone laughed again.

while leaving being prcessed and as we were leaving the staion one of the police men said that he hopes this doesnt put of off germany and that we will be back.

that was our experience at the old olympic village because we didn’t want to pay the 12 euros.

John Part 2.

I did imply in JOHN PART 1 that there will be a part two. THE WAIT is over. you can sleep assured that it has arrived!

I can hear the cheers and the fireworks going off.

party two is really boring. just photos and a stupid opening. YAY!!!!!

OMG it’s a canteen. too bad it’s not like the one in star wars. I don’t think star trek had a really cool canteen in it.

Little baby gas mask.

While in the kindergarten we came across a few of these small gas masks that the children would have worn. It must have been a traumatic experience for the little boys and girls not knowing whats going on and why they have to wear these masks.

Little tiny gas mask :-(

The jupiter factory in pripyat offically made tapes. what the world didn’t know at the time was that it made electronics for nuclear war heads.

chernobyl video.

While walking around taking in all the lives that got left behind in pripyat and chernobyl i took 44 minuts of footage.  The resulting video is what came out of those 44 minuets.

Chernobyl Pripyat

The chernobyl disaster is one of the most horrible things that has occurred. it has ruined so many lives and keeps affecting people to this day. Many people have died or gotten sick from the radiation fallout.

having said that it is one of the ‘meccas’ of abandoments around the globe. There are so many buildings left abandoned and looted.

while you are there you do feel the overwhelming sadness of the place and somehow feel bad for taking a tour there just to take photos.

My fascination with the Chernobyl disaster didn’t start when I began exploring abandoned buildings. can’t give a great explanation to why it has fascinated me but the chernobyl disaster has always been something that I have always researched and learnt about in my free time.

To visit this region of area that has been decimated by radiation and the fallout has been something that i have wanted to do for a long time. The sense of sadness that i felt whilst there was more than what i excepted to feel.

There will be more photos to come i am just looking through the many that I took and processing them as i go along. It’s a long process as I’m a lazy person.

John Part 1.

this place out in a country town was BIG. it’s pretty much all demolished now. We were glad to have gone there while it was still in the process of getting torn down. It was a big factory with two main warehouses, a manufacturing area, canteen, HUGE office block, a guard-house and other smaller buildings in the land.

In one of the smaller buildings that i was going to bypass the first time I visited (trespassed) john had personal records from when the company first started. You could spend hours in there reading all the employee records and come of the questions that people got asked when starting a new job.

john cont2

in the medical offices there was still records of people and what they were treated for at John.

This is a concern as they company just left them there and didn’t give a shit about peoples personal information.

In one of the tea rooms some of the guys must have had a blast on a fishing trip as they posted photos of it all over the walls. they caught some really big fish but most of the photos consisted of people with beers in their hands and smiles on their face.
forgotten memories
That wall had been half torn down the second time I went to John.
